Talent Emerging: Who, what, when, why and how?

About a year ago, an anxious graduate emailed a swanky fashion editor a fairly cocky pitch. Hitting send, she thought she would probably never hear from anyone ever. During those times you see, her inbox was filled merely with Groupon emails and Twitter notifications - it was a really dry digital spell. Fast-forward a few weeks and ta-dah! Said editor was actually interested in HER idea and wanted to pursue it as a regular column feature online. With that, Talent Emerging was born *enter huge billboard with name in lights*

Me! I did it, I am solely responsible for manifesting an original content idea, did you hear that? O-R-I-G-I-N-A-L. So original that I didn't even copy and regurgitate it from another online source. Some of you wonderful people may have seen me promote said original idea on various social media links over the past year.

Talent Emerging is close to my heart. In layman's terms it's a weekly interview column asking 'young designers' (can we get a new name for that?) whether they feel they have had enough support from the industry and how their businesses have come into fruition. It has also formed the basis for a short film - anyone knows someone that can get Nick Knight to do it? Holla.

Not really sure how relevant this part is but the five-question-set would have been incomplete without it. So should we say you can catch me every Thursday at PlanetNotion.com and soon on here!

Fed up of trotting to fashion week unwanted and listening to editor's stories-past on how they nutured and raised the next Christopher Kane, I decided I wanted to find this generation's creative talent, CSM approved or not. This led me to embark on a long journey (from my bedroom) to seek out the best that WE (our generation) had to offer, regardless of education level, funding scheme or rich parent with an extra Amex.

A simple (read: completely fucking complicated) log of emails back and forth led to some amazing interviews and discovery of new talents. I mean I really did put the feelers out there, far and wide... Friends, social networks, events, you name it, I tried it. I literally wanted to find someone who was creating something that not many people knew about. Then I would take my victim and bombard them with the questions and the result is what you see today.

So there you have it, a cheeky breakdown of what TE really means and why I shove it in everyone's face every week or so. I hope you are more inclined to click to the left of your screen and browse through the interviews of some of the most inspiring people I have been lucky enough to work with.
